Qualification descriptor
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in specialist fields, working independently, as part of a team or leading deliverables with others.
They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).
Prerequisite requirements
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Entry requirements
- ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology or other relevant qualification/s; or
- with vocational experience but without formal supervision or management qualification.

After achieving the ICT50120 Diploma of Information Technology, candidates may undertake a range of Advanced Diploma or further higher education level qualifications within the ICA11 Training Package, or other Training Packages.
There is no direct link between this qualification and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. However, where required, a unit of competency will specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements that impact on the unit.
